The Corporate Parenting Board met last week for the final meeting of this municipal year. As always, it was a well‑attended session and provided an opportunity to reflect on the progress the Board has made over the past 12 months.
We discussed the impact we have delivered together and how we have continued to strengthen as a partnership, an observation echoed by Ofsted who recognised strong and effective partnerships in place.
Central to all our work is a commitment to prioritising the voices of our children and young people. What is impressive in these meetings is how they are always present in the room and that the meetings take place in their own dedicated space, ensuring they feel relaxed, supported and confident to contribute.
As part of our reflections, I reinforced the importance of making sure they remain front and centre in every Board meeting, leading the way in shaping the agenda and topics to discuss. It was good to hear everyone agree that our agenda should be built around the views and feedback of our children and young people, ensuring they remain firmly at the heart of the decisions we make.
